Class Introductions - Martial Classes

Martial Classes are focused on Versatility and Flexibility, with a high degree of build diversity. They are unquestionably the best when using weapons, due to their ability to learn multiple Fighting Styles at once. These Fighting Styles can define a Character’s playstyle and role in a fight; some focusing on defense, some on offense, and others allowing for unique approaches to combat, including shield bashes, counter attacks, and movement abilities. Martial Classes also benefit from having higher base HP and better Armor than other class archetypes, making them more suited to dangerous situations.

Fighters are masters of melee, with the highest base HP of any class and proficiency with all melee weapons, all armor types, and all shield types, giving them the highest degree of versatility when it comes to fighting in the front line. They can specialize into the Defense centric Guardian, the Overwhelming power of the Reaver, or the Skilled Warmaster. Fighters start with higher Strength and Dexterity, as well as a Skill Level in the Athletics skill, all of which enhance their capacity to engage in dangerous melee combat.

Rangers are masters of ranged combat, being the only class with proficiency in all Ranged Weapons, though they are by no means restricted to ranged combat, with access to a healthy selection of melee weapons and medium armors. They can specialize into the Bow wielding Marksman, the Crossbow focused Arbalest, or the mixed melee combatant Skirmisher. Rangers start with higher Dexterity and Agility, allowing them to strike quickly and precisely. They also start with a level in the Survival Skill, offering strong utility to any group.

Paladins are the only Martial class with the ability to wield magic. Like Fighters they have proficiency in melee weapons and heavy armor, but they add their powerful Light magic, which can be specialized to support a team or strike enemies. The special runes that allow Paladins to cast their magic can be personalized, changing the efficacy of certain spells and abilities. The Paladin is a potent jack of all trades that can focus on their preferred skill set, though this leaves them without any particularly strong Attributes.

Martial classes offer great utility for new players and a great deal of choice for veteran players. They are ideal for players that wish to focus on combat fundamentals first, and unique mechanics second.

That’s all for now, look forward to more information about the world of Vulneria and its inhabitants coming soon.

Farewell Travelers.
